Our time in Suriname is winding down, so we have been spending time with Harry and trying to jettison some of our belongings before our departure.

Snake Bites Abound 🐍

The above shot is taken from our porch, and the little marsh you see in between the neighbor's place and ours is apparently full of aggressive and venomous snakes. The guy that lives in the place is a Cuban refugee, and although our Spanish is terrible, we are able to communicate a bit. We noticed he was missing for four days, and upon his return we asked him where he'd been.

"Serpiente" was his response, and he told us an oversimplified version of what happened because he knows our Spanish is limited. This picture is a shot we took of his phone, and that's the snake that put him in the hospital for 4 days. He said it came and bit him while he was busy cooking, a totally unprovoked attack. We were also told it's not the first time he's received a poisonous snake bite since living at this place.

The marsh is now a no-go area for the @kidsisters, and we are trying to be more vigilant as well because we can't afford any snake bites before leaving Suriname.

🕵️ Bird-Spying With Monkey-B 🐤

Although @sreypov has been the one monitoring the bird nest around the corner more thoroughly than me, I do check on the chicks occasionally. Monkey-B and I popped over to have a look, and we noticed the little guys are fully feathered. We suspect it's a matter of days before they show interest in leaving the nest.

They chirp for the return of their parents, but when we peer inside, they immediately go quiet and still, a sign they are much more self-aware than before. I still think watching Monkey-B check in on the chicks is the cutest thing of all.

Work & Play, Striking A Balance 🤹

After her studies were finished, Monkey-B dove into one of her favorite hobbies, making doll clothes from scratch using various fabric scraps we have lying around the apartment. She apparently needs half of the apartment's floor space for this activity, so we try to give her a wide berth.

Srey-Yuu was busy replying to Hive comments and doing other Hive-related activities. I am still impressed at how much she's learned in such a short time, and once back in Cambodia I will have free time to teach how to manage her crypto independently.

🐑 Stuck Between A Roof & A Wet Place 🌦️

Harry the lamb (that plays football) has become so popular with my readers that I feel a need to include him in every post. Today little Harry got stuck in a rainstorm, and he hugged the edge of a shed to stay dry for nearly an hour. His parents graze in the rain happily, but Harry is a true VIP trying to keep his wool fluffy and dry.

9.JPG

Harry only has occasional freedom these days, and he's often staked in the backyard for grazing during the day. He's learned how to weasel his way out being staked to a leash many times, and later on in the day he broke free for a surprise visit.

Monkey-B has developed a love of podcasts, and now she likes to listen to them while doing other activities. Today she walked 100 meters to take out the trash with her bluetooth headphones on, I think to test the distance she can stray from her iPad before losing a signal.

Late in the afternoon we recognized a bleat for help from Harry, and sure enough he was tightly wrapped around a pole and couldn't move. He's not taking well to staked life, so I sent Monkey-B to untangle him, and although I wish we could set him free during the day, it's the landlord's sheep, and not our decision to make.

For this reason we decided to stay with Harry for a while and keep him company while his freedom of movement was restricted. My family and I know a thing or two about having our freedom of movement restricted, so I can sympathize with some of the emotional feelings this kind creature has. Harry belongs in Cambodia no doubt, and he would be the hottest ram in town, all the Khmer ewes would vie for his attention.
