I've been busy making lots of pickles lately, samosas too, and my wife has been experimenting with her new mini sewing machine.
🦢 Do You Know Gooseberries?

I should've taken some photos of the fruit before I steamed them so you could see the beautiful gooseberry in whole form. Well, life is super busy at the moment, so I'm lucky to find time to make this post at 1am while the family is sleeping, but perhaps soon I'll make time for a recipe post. Gooseberries aren't super common in Cambodia, so I haven't had many chances to experiment with them. I decided to prep them for a pickle by steaming for 5 minutes and removing the seeds.
💣 Ah Bom

One of our neighbor's kids is named "Bom, and his name almost sounds like "boom" or "bomb" in English. This little guy is not too different from a bomb though, and anytime we see him he's running around wild, jumping, throwing things, making noise, and being distracting. On this day he was fixated on stomping on this piece of scrap steel I pulled from the dirt. Funny thing though is that when his parents aren't around, he's quite well-behaved with us.
🥬 Cabbage Samosas

When it comes to samosas, I am used to the standard potato and pea variety, and sometimes when we make them at home, we will simply stuff whatever leftover Indian food we have into a samosa and fry it, making for some interesting samosas sometimes. Well, I recently shredded some cabbage and onions, combined them with some poha and spices, and used this as the filling. I have stumbled into something very good, but poha is not easy to find in our area. Unless we can find a poha vendor online, this might be a one done recipe, but they were so delicious.
🪡 Pov's New Toy

While my wife was in Siem Reap she got a new free toy from her niece, a mini sewing machine. Her niece couldn't figure out how to use it, and she also mentioned a tailor lives near her home if she ever needs anything sewn, so I looked up the model on YouTube and found a tutorial video for her to set up and use this thing. It seems to work well, and the only thing it can't do is go in reverse, solved by rotating the garment 180 degrees.
Sorry for the lack of humor in this post, I usually try so sprinkle some laughter in these posts, but it's 1:30am now and I'm simply trying to get a post published. At 5am I'll be rushing to take the kids to school and wondering how I live on such limited sleep.
