Today was a combination "Hive Power Up Day" and a "Western Union Power Up Day," and Monkey-B joined me for the WU trip.

It's September 1st, so that means #HPUD for you Spanish speakers and #HivePUD for you English speakers. I managed to power up a total of 246.631 HIVE this morning before making this post.

First, A Fiat Power Up Day 💵

Unfortunately Surinamese landlords, vegetable, and fruit sellers don't accept HIVE yet, so I still need to access my fiat currency, and the most efficient way to do that is via Western Union, which is even more unforunate.

I dashed out to the local Western Union branch to receive some money from my bank account in the USA, a power up of $500 with fees so high I don't even want to mention it, but still better than using an ATM to withdraw Suriname Dollars at a terribly pegged rate.

Monkey-B came along for the journey, and we took a fiat power up shot. We can now survive a little longer as we wait for the world to reopen the handful of borders formerly available to our mixed-passport family.

Second, A Hive Power Up Day 🐝

You only need power up 10 HIVE to be eligible for a power-up badge from @HiveBuzz, but I powered up everything I have, a total of 246.631 HIVE, bringing my grand total to 8,559.30 Hive Power.

I am not eligible for any of the prizes, as my account is too big, but I consider it a compliment. The one thing preventing my eligibility for prizes is my more than 8,000 HP, but I still want to support this initiative, and besides I can still get a cool badge.

I don't know which badge is coming my way, but I received a notification in my comments after powering up, and I checked the HiveBuzz.me website to see that I have another 7 hours remaining before I will know what kind of badge I will be given.

We are still managing to survive here in Suriname without powering down or withdrawing any HIVE, but it's definitely been a struggle. For now we soldier on, still awaiting to see when the few remaining borders open to our family will open.

A SONG TO EXPRESS MY MOOD

With all the madness going in my former home (the USA), Lutan Fyah pretty much sums up my ambition, although I have no living Grandma to buy dentures for.

Living from day-to-day, it's hard to image land ownership in this lifetime, already 37 years old and financially worse off than I was at 18 years old, but I must keep a dream, even if it is just a small shack and an acre to farm, it would be like hitting the lottery for us.
