It's finally Friday, and it's a silly goose time in this house, so I made some funny GIFs to entertain myself, and hopefully some of you too.
Sorry Harry, Forgot You Again 🐑
Like most days, today started with Harry, or more like me forgetting to leave the gate open for Harry. I found him sleeping at the foot of our step, so I decided to surprise him by walking around the corner. We really are gonna miss this little guy, and I can't say that about many things in Suriname.
🍩 First, A Bite To Eat 🥗
My lovely wife @sreypov made some awesome culinary creations, today. Breakfast started with "num kang," which are basically Cambodian donuts, and "num chak kvay,"which are basically Chinese-style breadsticks, a great partner for a morning coffee. For lunch it was my favorite, "laab tofu," a popular salad in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand.
🧠 Proof Of Concept
The @kidsisters and I were talking about "The Matrix" this morning, and this conversation sparked an idea to try and learn how to make a Matrix style GIF, preferably with Monkey-B doing some Khmer-fu. Monkey-B wasn't into the idea, so as proof of concept, I hastily used a LEGO man and several shaky photos to quickly create a GIF in GIMP. She was not impressed by the final product, but I did talk Srey-Yuu into helping me test the concept, and that is how got today's thumbnail.
👋 Hey Little Guy 🐶
After finishing Srey-Yuu's apsara-styled GIF, I headed to the corner store for toilet paper, tempeh, tofu, tomatoes, and no other things that start with the letter "t." While walking I was pondering the lessons learned from Srey-Yuu's GIF, and I thought it would be cool to try and see if I could make a stop-motion movie in GIF form, complete with plot and climax of course, and probably not exceeding 12MB. Then I saw this cute little puppy and forgot what I was thinking about.
👨💻 The GIFs Are Flowing
I've been getting in the habit of asking the family to do several different poses when taking pictures. I try to remain as still as possible, and sometimes these images combine to make awesome GIFs like the one you see above, Monkey-B being cheeky and stitching a Barbie dress out of clothing scraps.
I really enjoy making GIFs, so I am also pondering making a weekly GIF contest in the ASEAN Hive Community. If you're still reading and happen to be an ASEAN Hiver, what do you think of this idea? Would you like a weekly GIF challenge?
