Today I wanted to play LEGOs with Monkey-B, but when I saw the state of her LEGO box, I had to let her know it was time for some organization.
A GOOD OLE' HOT MESS โจ๏ธ๐๏ธ

ย ย ย I was excited to play with Monkey-B, but the state of affairs in the LEGO bin was abysmal. It was equal mix of LEGOs and coconut shells, fabric scraps, toothpicks, rocks, aluminum foil, and many more random items. I think it's safe to say Monkey-B is the Cambodian packrat in our house.

NOTHING WRONG WITH BOREDOM ๐ฅฑ
ย ย ย Comparing modern kids with our own childhoods is probably not fair because I think real and true boredom was something we dealt with day in and day out in the days of old. I had no screen to distract me, so I played in the mud, washed my Dad's car, obsessively organized my baseball cards and LEGOs, picked weeds, and pretty much anything else to pass the time.

๐จโ๐ญ A RE-ASSEMBLY LINE ๐ฉโ๐ญ
ย ย ย My girls really like to disassemble everything, so I set out a plan for us to process the LEGO heap in waves, each time sorting out particular kinds of pieces. First we gathered all the door parts and began reassembling them. After that we put all the wheels and tires together, then the characters, etc.

ย ย ย I tried my best to explain that Dad likes to play LEGOs only when he doesn't have to spend 30 minutes looking for part of an arm or a wheel, and I think Monkey-B and I are on the same page now, although today wasn't a play day, just pure organizsing with little goofiness and hijinks mixed in.
๐ GRANDMA WITH COFFEE โ

ย ย ย No matter how serious the activity is, Monkey-B will not allow the situation to go on without a bit of comedy, so when the job was drawing to a close, she decided to look like an "old person," and wandered around the house with a mug and some LEGO classes.
