Today was a rainy and cold day here in Paramaribo, Suriname, and nothing makes me feel lazier or unproductive than weather like this.
The Show Must Go On 🎭
Rain or shine, day in and day out we have to cook, clean, blog (earn money), and carry out many more daily chores. Today is a little different than the rest because after 2+ years of being stranded in Suriname, the US Embassy finally offered a money transfer service, and I was able to collect $1,000 USD of my own funds direct from the embassy.
Srey-Yuu showing off the largest wad of cash we've had in 3 or 4 years.Under normal circumstances it would take me up to 15 days of cycling and standing in queues to access $1,000 USD of my own funds from my American bank account. More often than not there is a lack of funds plus a $200 maximum collection, an it often takes two or three tries to get money, so that's how 15 days can be wasted so easily, also leaving much less time for work and earning money.
🖥️ Where The Magic Happens 🔮
Each day we basically live out the plot of the classic Bill Murray movie, "Groundhog Day," so drumming up any ideas for content can sometimes be difficult, as our room is small and our daily scenery is very repetitive. With this in mind I share a common sight: me with a hot drink, a freshly packed bowl, and a blank draft, impatiently awaiting some sort of inspiration to pop into my head.
💆♀️ Another Common Sight
It doesn't have to be a rainy day to bribe Monkey-B with a "Brothers Grimm" podcast episode in exchange for an equal-length massage either. This usually consists of equal parts squeezing, hitting, and walking on our backs.
This posting style is inspired by @davidke20, who is able to elegantly and efficiently take a few photos of his day, and write the perfect amount of words about it, a skill I struggle with after years of blogging.
