It's been raining a lot here in Pramaoy lately, and I happen to be testing my camera when my neighbor arrived just in time to escape a sudden downpour.

👩‍💻 When It Rains This Family Hives 👨‍💻

Well, that heading is a bit misleading, 3 out 4 family members "Hive" to be exact. In Suriname Monkey-B used to help Srey-Yuu a bit with the @kidsisters blog, but now that she's two years behind in Khmer school and also studying English in the afternoon, she can't be bothered with blogging. She has expressed some interest in doing some 3Speak videos again though, not sure if they'll be fairy tales like before.

Srey-Yuu will be a teenager in a few months, and she's slowly getting back into the habit of posting, although not yet 5 posts per week like we agreed upon. Sometimes she thinks I push her too hard with the Hive stuff, but I want to see her be economically from the age of 18, and not struggle and labor like her mom and I have for so many years, and with basically no savings to show for it.

We've previously calculated that if she posts 5 days a week until she's 18, and based on her average post payouts, she could invest wisely and never have to work for a boss and paycheck a day in her life, and also skipping generations of poverty that a family in our circumstances would normally have to endure.

@sreypov still prefers to blog on her back from her iPhone, and I always beg her to come sit at the desk and learn how to use the laptop. Well, she earns more from her post payouts than I do these days, and she creates her posts in 1/4th the amount of time as I do, so I guess I've got my foot in my mouth now don't I 🤦‍♂?

While all this Hivin' is going on, Monkey-B is super-focused on becoming literate in her native language, something I can't help her with unfortunately. I taught myself Khmer using a phonetic system similar to Vietnamese because none of my Khmer friends at that time were literate.

Sky On Fire 🌄

As I walked outside to lock the Ape's handlebars for the night, I noticed the sunset was particularly colorful. Although we don't have a good view of it from our room, I still took a picture for no reason whatsoever, Hive content yo!

After The Family Is Asleep 😴

4.JPG

There are only certain kinds of work I can get done during the day due to Dad-sponsibilities and also sharing a rental room the size of a prison cell with 4 other humans. For this reason, when the family goes to sleep, it is often the only time I can get a lot of work done.

I wake up at 6am and usually go to bed at 2am, but dream of a life where where I go to bed at 10pm and wake up at 7am, basically doing Hive stuff 70% of that time. It's not ideal but it's a sacrifice for the family, and after all it's much cooler at night anyhow. I happen to be reading @vincentnijman's latest post when I took this far-too-late-at-night picture of my workstation.

Signing out from Pramaoy, Cambodia 🙏. Tomorrow we may go to visit Phnum 1,500, so I will definitely document that adventure if it happens.
