Today involved a vegan sushi delivery to Srey-Yuu at public school followed by aloo matar for dinner, one of Monkey-B's favorite dishes.
Poor Planning ๐ โโ๏ธ

ย ย ย I usually leave at 10:30am to get Monkey-B from school, but on this day we got a call from Srey-Yuu at 10am letting us know that there wasn't any school this morning. Apparently the majority of teachers don't keep a schedule and/or forgot to tell their students. It's not a big deal for students that live in the town, but for the handful of students who get dropped off from nearly 30kms away like us, it was a huge inconvenience.

ย ย ย About two hours before this happened we got a call from a villager letting us know we were summoned to be audience members in a speech from the governor of our province. I do not like being summoned, especially with only 30 minutes of notice, so needless to say I didn't got, but nearly everyone else in the village did because they often give away noodles, soy sauce, and other random things.
ย ย ย These events are full of long monotone speeches by guys wearing Kim Jong Un sunglasses, so it's understandable that not enough people came to make things look good for the cameras. If snack bribes weren't paid, I doubt anyone at all would show up for these things, but it's so tacky that we weren't invited until the last minute when more preferred guests couldn't fill the seats. With me being the only white face around here for hundreds of kilometers minus one Wildlife Alliance NGO director, my turban and I would be the focus of too many stares, and likely some awkward camera zooms.
A Spicy Dinner For Monkey-B ๐

ย ย ย After connecting the dots and realizing the reason school was cancelled was because the teachers all wanted free noodles and snacks in exchange for being captive audience members and loyal party supporters, I delivered the sushi you saw in the thumbnail to Srey-Yuu at school, where she hadn't studied in the morning due to missing teachers, but afternoon classes went on as planned. On the way back home I told Monkey-B I was going to make one of her favorites for dinner tonight.

ย ย ย Aloo matar is the dish, because potatoes and peas just belong together, whether inside a samosa or tomato gravy, these two veggies just compliment each other. Monkey-B has an Indian palate like me, so it's only fair that Srey-Yuu got one of her favorites for lunch, and the Indian food fans get their spicy fix on in the evening.

ย ย ย Monkey-B is always a willing food model, and for the last pic of the day, she randomly gave me this pose. I couldn't resist, what a good aloo matar advertisement from a true connoisseur of south Asian delights. Well, that's all for now folks, it's almost 1am and I behind as always. My engagement has sucked lately because I've been so busy, but I hope to soon find time to engage with my fellow ASEAN Hivers' posts.
