As I was frying the last couple puris, Monkey-B came by and smelled the pressure cooker steam, then exclaimed "My favorite!"
Not A Moment To Spare ๐

ย ย ย Monkey-B is the biggest fan of my cooking in our house, and when I'm in the kitchen she always comes to investigate. Her delight and eagerness to devour almost anything I cook really make it worthwhile. The two of us have similar tastes, and as soon as dinner is ready, we often find it's just the two of us to start dinner while the puris are still flaky and hot and at maximum freshness.
Hook Me Up Monkey-B ๐ฉโ๐ณ

ย ย ย The puris were joined by rajma chawal this evening, but because red kidney beans are hard to find in Cambodia, I use black beans, a more common ingredient because they are used to make many different desserts. Only psychopaths would dare use beans outside their intended dessert role in Cambodia, but I do it regardless because I prefer to eat my fart-makers in spicy form.

ย ย ย Monkey-B and I also like to kit out this dish in a similar way, by adding more fresh sliced shallots than beans, then topping it all off with a squeeze of lime juice. I don't know why, but raw onions and spicy beans belong together, and Monkey-B has been known to release audible sighs when beans are served raw onion-less.
This Ain't A Recipe Post Yo ๐ โโ๏ธ

ย ย ย I used to share a lot of recipes on Hive, but I usually cook at night and we have terrible indoor lighting, not a good combo for good food-tography. Also, detailing the steps and breaking up the cooking process for photos takes a bit of the joy of cooking and flow away from the process, which is kind of like a meditation for me. Post payouts also haven't traditionally reflected the amount of effort I put into my recipe posts, and I'm trying to learn that it's more important to post daily with whatever shots I can find time to take.

ย ย ย Having stopped stressing over how much my posts will earn long ago has given me freedom to be more real and raw with my writing style, almost as real and raw as the potential farts a dish like this can generate. As I write this post, all the ladies are sound asleep, it's 2:00am, and my fingers are typing about as fast as my tuchus is bouncing sound waves around the room.
2 More Diners Join ๐โโ๏ธ

ย ย ย After Monkey-B and I had already knocked back a bowl of beans and a few puris, the Mothership ๐ธ and Srey-Yuu joined us for dinner and some puris a little past their prime. Notice that Srey-Yuu and Mama-B don't put a disturbing amount of raw onions on their plate like Monkey-B and I do, and they are also not impressed by my humor either.

ย ย ย Oh, most of you know that Srey-Yuu recently turned 13, and although in the Khmer number system 13 is just 10-3, nothing special, but in English it's the beginning of her teen years. For this reason I have been working on a new nickname for her, her real name is not even Srey-Yuu, it's actually Sakada, something I'm not sure any of us have ever called her.
ย ย ย So, anyways, I think I've settled on T-Bop, what do you all think of this nickname? It stems from Teenie Bopper, something I've been calling her the last week or so. Just look at her reaction to being called T-Bop in the above photo, it's obvious that she loves it. This is also the look she gives me when I excuse myself from the table and use her bedroom for farting before returning to finish the meal.
