It's just another day here in beautiful Steung Kach, and I've been busy heaving rocks at the river and entertaining the family.
Making A Masterpiece 🏛️
Today Srey-Yuu's school buddy stopped by in the evening and hung out for a while. I don't have any pictures of her because I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable, but she's interested in Hive and we're in the process of making her an account, so stay tuned for that. She played LEGOs with Monkey-B while here, so that was a delight for a girl that only ever wants a playmate.
Mock Meat Imports 🍢
I recently picked up a shipment at the bus station, and it was full of culinary surprises like seitan, soya chunks, vegan Chinese sausages, and vegan ham. The Chinese sausages are are actually from Thailand, and the ham, although full of Vietnamese writing, are imports from Taiwan, so the stuff isn't cheap, but it helps maintain morale for three ladies that occasionally miss meat-like flavors.
Go Away Dad! 🫣
Srey-Yuu prepared some noodles for herself in her usual style, adding soya chunks, but also with a bit of the mock Chinese sausages we just received. We'd neve ordered them before, but so far they seem like a hit with our daughters.
The moment I swooped in for selfie with my teenage chef, she immediately turned on her face of disgust in typical teenage fashion, but that didn't stop me from smiling and salvaging the moment. Her disdain for photos with me is something I hope won't last for many more years because we have few photos in recent years together that she has willingly participated in.
You Got A Potion For That? 🧙♀️
I noticed Monkey-B playing with her one of her newest potions, and asked if she had anything that can make a teenager hate her dad a little less, and she informed me that this batch is actually poison, then she gave her LEGO lady a drink and put her in bed. I hope these aren't signs of a serial killer in the making 🤣. Alright, that's it for now folks, see you again soon.
