We recently came into possession of some sugarcane, but @sophea and @sakana aren't strong enough to make quick work of peeling it.

⛑️ Big Sister To The Rescue 🛟

Sugarcane juice is by far the tastiest way to enjoy this fruit grass, but we don't have a press. The next best option is to shave it and cut it into cubes, then chew and suck on it until the flavor is gone. It is hard to work to peel sugarcane if you don't have specific kind of thin knife basically made just for this purpose.

We have only normal kitchen knives, so for anyone peeling sugarcane like this, it takes a bit of muscle to use such a thick knife for shaving off the outer layer. Luckily 14-year-old girl muscles are adequate for such a mission, so cheers to Srey-Yuu for her ninja-esque knifery.

Sugarcane Draws A Crowd 👯‍♀️

If you were expecting a very engaging post about things other than this sugarcane getting peeled, well I'm sorry to let you down. The last few days I've been doing too much house-husbanding to have time to make a post. Cooking, cleaning, and fathering tend to not allow much time for anything else, and ASEAN Hive duties always come before my personal blog posts.

Watch It Fall 👇

One of the best parts of both eating and peeling sugarcane on the veranda is that you get to throw the discarded bits over the edge and watch them fall. I don't know why this super simple thing is so fascinating, but it just is. Anytime I have a fruit rind or some veggie scraps to discard, I love tossing them over the edge, especially when some of the bits are light enough to take flight with the wind. I guess what I'm saying is that when you live in the middle of nowhere it's quite easy to be entertained.
