Srey-Yuu has recently shown some interest in construction, and in record time she has already become a master rebar tier and brick hauler.

First Some Chili Oil 🌶️

Srey-Yuu has been mentioning chili oil a lot lately, mostly because she likes dumplings and mixing soy sauce with chili oil and other ingredients for the dipping sauce. Instead of just heating some oil and adding it to crushed dried chilies I took the time to infuse the oil first with garlic, shallots, star anise, black cardamom, green cardamom, bay leaves, fennel, cinnamon, black pepper, and probably some other things I have forgot to mention.

👷‍♀️ Putting Some Hard Hours In 🦺

It's not easy working under the sun during the noon hours, but to my surprise I found my teenager tying rebar with the guys, and I didn't force her or ask her to do it. I grew up on a farm and worked lots of hours from a young age, and although my daughters have a much easier childhood than I did, I feel good when I see them choosing to take on tasks that aren't necessarily their responsibility.

👷‍♂️ Soon-To-Be Hiver 👨‍💻

Luckily Srey-Yuu has a good rebar tying teacher in the form of Uncle Mab, aka @mister-mab. His English reading and writing ability is constantly improving and he's shown a strong interest in Hive because it would allow to make the same monthly income he is used to, but instead allow him to stay at home with his family. He is an awesome guy and I more than glad to help him on this journey, especially since he is approaching retirement age but still needs some income.

A Little Faith Required 🙏

We are nearly out of money and there are still two more big expenses left to finish our dream house. The roof tiles and a cement truck to pour the second floor are the immediate ones I am concerned about. Even if we have to go without windows and any kind of interior or furniture, just having a solid roof and a place to live so that we can rent out the cabin and small brick home will allow us to save money over the next year. With this and some HIVE earnings we can hire these guys again to fully finish the house, restaurant, bar, etc.

Of course there is our family Hive accounts that we can power down to finish the house. I don't know if I would be okay with powering down nearly all of our Hive assets in order to finish the building, but we may choose to soon withdrawal sizeable chunks of our earnings despite HIVE not really being at the price I'd like it to be for such an occasion. In the end I know we can earn a good income from this homestay project, so I am okay with contributing some crypto towards its completion if necessary.
