We hosted a few backpackers and their mountain guide recently, but this was the first time we've encountered porters in Cambodia.

It's A Heavy Load 🏋️

We're used to seeing climbers park their cars in our area in order to access the trailhead near our house. We've now hosted hopeful mountain climbers a couple times, but a few VIPs in this gang of climbers outsourced their load to some young local Cambodian kids from Pramaoy.

The young would-be porters seemed to have bitten off more than they could chew, their homemade rice-sack backpacks nearly larger than their own bodies. They were eager to earn some cash and also more casual than the climbers and the guide who stayed the night at our house. I decided to snap a few pics before I shuttled them to the trailhead in the Ape.

It seems I'm in the tuk-tuk a lot lately, and the @kidsisters are back in school again, although it requires two 1+ hour round-trips, and about $6 in diesel per day. It's not sustainable and has already into my schedule of waking up as early as possible and working until I find myself asleep at the computer in the wee hours of the morning.

The journey isn't much easier on the girls, Monkey-B is usually asleep within the first 5 minutes of the trip back up the mountain. This morning my wife's brother and uncle arrived to help renovate and repair the cabin, so stay tuned for developments with this project...
