The @kidsisters and @sreypov are on a one-week holiday with her ex-in-laws, and I am at home living the bachelor life and giving the house a deep clean.
I Forgot I Have An iPad 📱
My wife's ex-in-laws are in Cambodia for a holiday from the USA, where they have a donut shop and some other businesses in California. They invited my wife and kids to tag along on their adventures, so I requested an absence from school for one week, and I also had to tell the other kids they'll be missing school for a week too. Honestly, I need a break from the seemingly never-ending commutes, so it's a holiday for me in a sense too.
I have an iPad that I rarely use, mostly because I just don't have time because I'm always on the computer working and I use my phone to listen to podcasts and music. The iPad just doesn't have a space in my day, but without my typical morning commute, I can afford to work more slowly and even distract myself with a daytime movie, something I haven't done in ages, even if it is a previously downloaded movie that I don't like. Well, when you pay per MB for your internet, Netflix is a weekly or monthly event.
ASEAN Hive & Noodles 🍜
I spent the first day catching up on ASEAN Hive stuff, and since I'm temporarily living the bachelor life, it's noodles at the desk for me. I hope to give the house a deep clean before they return, as I fear the mice will damage our things if we don't store them more carefully. We never had time to properly unpack from our move as well, so many of our things are unorganized and in boxes/bags.
Deep Clean Time 🧹
Part of the reason for the deep clean was to check for evidence of mice/rats, and the results were better than expected, but unfortunately the little things targeted my webcam wire, and that will not be a cheap fix. I hauled everything out of the bedroom and gave it a proper sweep and mop, and next will be to organize the front room, a difficult task when we have hardly any furniture to store items. It will be a lot of stuffing things into coolers and empty suitcases, but at least things will be more organized than they were after our hasty move.
It's a bit overwhelming because there was a ton of dirty dishes and laundry to do when the ladies left, the house was already mess, so I guess I'm taking one for the team on this day. I actually enjoy cleaning quite a bit, and our place is long overdue for a deep clean, but moving everything out of each room while the family is here is not so easy. It makes for pretty boring Hive content, but my day was pretty boring, so there ya' go.
Reptile Highlight 🦎
While cleaning I noticed a lizard on the wall that was bigger than my hand, but after a closer look I realized it wasn't a tokay gecko, the species that usually gets this big and much bigger too. After I got close it ran away, but very clumsily, I could sense it wasn't use to being on a wall like the other geckos I am used to seeing. It almost looks like a baby crocodile.
