We recently took a trip to from Steung Kach to Pursat to visit my niece-in-law in the hospital, do some shopping, and visit other family members.
🌳 From The Mountains To The Ricefields 🌾
One of the last photos I took before leaving our home was of Monkey-B and her new friend. The two of them were talking about life and enjoying watching the dumptrucks come and go. The shot was too good not to take, and I only noticed Puu Mab standing in the between them after uploading this pic.
🥵 It's Hot In The Flats
After almost 4 hours on the road we arrived at the Pursat Provincial Hospital to see Sokha, the daughter of Bong Thien (guy in the above photo). She was pretty beat up from a moto crash and had a lot of blunt trauma, but the the broken arm seemed to be the biggest problem, so I'm sure she'll make a full recovery. I can only imagine the burden and stress her father was going through, a very tough time.
@sreypov and I both noticed how much hotter the weather is in the rice fields than high up here in the mountains. We sweat profusely the whole time, but that didn't stop us from stocking up on plants and seeds. In the above photo she's picking young tamarind leaves to be used for a sour soup.
Moo! 🐄
There were several cows in the village, and one of them was particularly curious about me, so I spent some time giving this little gal some ear and head rubs. She just kept staring at me as if to let me know I shouldn't stop, so I assume this youngster doesn't get much attention even though she's well-provided for.
Fun Girl, Fungi 🍄
Monkey-B noticed a giant mushroom in the front yard, and it seemed a good opportunity for a silly photo, and this is what she came up with, pretty creative I must say.
The drive is a long one, so we always stay the night when we visit. For my last photo of the evening, I caught this shot of Bong Thien's son taking the cows out to graze for the day. A little tug on the rope and they know it's time to head out.
